Hi, my name is Drew, I am 16 years old and I have Type One Diabetes (T1D). I was diagnosed almost four years ago and I remember one of my biggest fears when I was diagnosed was if I would be able to play sports any longer. Now, I realize that by rigorously taking care of myself, I can be a healthy diabetic and an athlete as well.
I am currently a junior in high school and I play baseball and football.
In the last year, I became a youth ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). My role is to help newly diagnosed families adapt to having diabetes and help them acclimate to their new normal.
I created this website with the intent of helping other kids realize that diabetes cannot hold them back in life including with athletics.
I hope this site is helpful to my fellow T1D athletes.
