Hi, my name is Drew, I am 19 years old and I have type one diabetes (T1D). I was diagnosed over six years ago and I remember one of my biggest fears when I was diagnosed was if I would be able to play sports any longer. Now, I realize that by rigorously taking care of myself, I can be a healthy diabetic and an athlete as well.

I am currently going into my junior year at Vanderbilt University and I maintain a very active lifestyle and play lots of sports on an intramural basis. During high school, I played organized baseball and football.

About 4 years ago, I became a youth ambassador for the Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund). My role is to help newly diagnosed families adapt to having diabetes and help them acclimate to their new normal.

I created this website with the intent of helping other kids realize that diabetes cannot hold them back in life including with athletics.

I hope this site is helpful to my fellow T1D athletes.
